LA's Place is a website designed for your family about family-friendly services you'll find on this site or connected with LA's Wellbeing Center. Some activities are at the WellBeing Center. Other times "L.A's Place goes mobile" at locations affording the space & equipment needed!
Know if it's listed on the LA's Place.net calendar (click calendar above), it's a family friendly service or activity geared for everyone.
All activites are in class or group formats focused on building useful life skills while having fun! Many activities are geared specifically to kids aged 3 to 18 for developing healthy life skills, as well as the knowledge of when to use them. These classes give kids "tools in their toolbox", good for a lifetime of use for handling stress, uncomfortable emotions & developing healthy self-talk/beliefs supporting their success in school both academically & socially.
Other L.A.'s Place activities will be geared toward family members of any age who've survived either a traumatic or acquired injury (TBI, Stroke, Birth Trauma) or devopmental delays or learning difficulties. "L.A." believes everyone, of any ability, has the right to enjoy activities in adventure & learning, supporting their social connection in community and social involvement. Look for L.A's Place to connect or provide these social & learning opportunities.
So know these hopefully are coming soon: Social/Prosocial skills classes on Friday afternoons and "Friday Night Free-for-All" games night and friendly Wii competitions/tournaments for practicing social & performance skills under "real-life" pressures. I will be looking for a volunteer or two to design 'competition' brackets and helping with games night.
